My novels for children and young adult readers are my latest work, and explore themes of isolation, loneliness, strangeness, rural gothic, the futuristic and the supernatural. I have visited over 400 schools since 2007 to talk about my work and to lead workshops with children and young people.

Shadow Runners was first published by Chicken House, and is now in a new edition from Firecroft Bay. It is published in the USA by Scholastic, as Shadow Breakers, and has been published in translation in Germany and Brazil.
